October 31, 2025 Community Halloween Parties

On October 31, 2025, the DMR Fire Department hosted a Halloween party for kiddos and a 2nd one later for adults. In the years before Covid, Halloween parties and other public gatherings were normal. It was good to see both kids and adults having fun and mingling with new folks in the DMR.

August 25, 2025 Mitigation and Cleanup around repeater building on Apache Mountain

On August 25, 2025, Chief Edna Queen, Eward Eaton, Marvin Voiers, and Ray Queen did a great job mitigating and cleaning in and around our repeater building on Apache Mountain. The DMR repeater is vital to our emergency communications. It is owned by the Jeff Davis County Emergency Service District. The repeater allows the DMRVFD to communicate with our area emergency services. It also allows our HAM radio operators to communicate using a distinct set of frequencies. The building also houses our GMAR equipment. GMAR allows for communication using different frequencies outside of the emergency ones.

It is our wish list to purchase solar panels and back up batteries that would allow us to have working radios during a power outage.
