Meet Our Firemen

Meet Our Support Team

The DMRVFD Support team is a group of local residents who help our fire department and the community in important ways. Our team is key for any fund raising event that the department hosts. Our food is famous — all you can eat pie, all you can eat salad, brisket sandwiches, spectacular desserts, and more, even a barbeque or a sit-down spaghetti supper. We’ve held arts and crafts sales, white elephant sales, and dances along with our fabulous food events. When we host an event, our team takes care of set-up and take-down, as well as providing all the food, utensils, and decorations.

We also serve the community by hosting the annual mitigation of the area around the station and the Community Center, and working with the Texas DOT to keep our allotted two miles of Highway 166 free of trash with several cleanups each year.

During an actual fire emergency, our support team frees up our firemen so that they can concentrate on fighting fire. We direct traffic, run errands, man the station, provide food for our firemen and the firefighting teams who come from elsewhere, and do whatever else is needed. We are proud to be an essential part of our department. And we are unique with in the tri-counties: no other department has a reliable group of volunteers on hand at a moment’s notice!

If you would like to join us, please contact our Support Team coordinator, Edna Queen, at e-queen@sbcglobal.net or call her at 426-2111. She will be glad to get you an application. You must turn in your application in person during a monthly meeting of the DMRVFD board of directors. Meeting are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5 pm in the Fire Department.
